Secured VISA®
Credit Card
1. TFCU will secure funds you have on deposit and issue you a VISA credit card.
2. You will use the card to make purchases and make regular monthly payments which will result in repairing or building your credit.
3. After at least six months of making regular purchases and on-time payments you may request moving to a regular TFCU VISA credit card. If approved, your secured funds will be released and our trained staff will share your new credit score with you!
Credit Builder
Loan
1. TFCU will issue you a $500 loan. The $500 will be deposited into a secured savings account in your name.
2. You will make regular monthly payments on the loan over 6 months.
3. Once you have paid off the loan, TFCU will release the $500 in the savings account.
4. You can spend or save the money!

We offer free, one-on-one private financial counseling to all Tongass FCU members. Whether you’re working on credit building and repair, preparing for homeownership, starting out after graduation, or tackling other financial challenges, our local counselors are here to help.
Counseling is available in person at select locations or via video from anywhere—so no matter where you are, you can connect with someone who understands your needs.
We’ll meet you where you are, listen to your goals, and help you build a plan that works for you.
