Save If You Dare!
Youth Month is taking over Tongass FCU this October.
Stop by to see what we’ve cooked up for Halloween, start saving or add to what you’ve got and challenge yourself: how much can you stash away by October 31?

Here’s what Youth Month at Tongass FCU means for your family:
- Kids can participate in a Savings Quest that rewards them for making deposits, completing activity sheets, and joining in events.
- They’ll have the chance to earn badges, prizes, and even a limited-edition T-shirt.
- Families can also take part in special contests and financial education activities, all focused on building healthy money habits.
Whether your child already has an account or not, they can get involved! Current members can use their existing account to participate, and new members can open a Youth Savings or Spending Account anytime in October to join in.
The Savings Quest

Bring in your Youth Month flyer or stop by a branch/microsite to pick one up. Bringing the flyer in earns your child their first badge.
If your child doesn’t already have a Youth Account, this is the perfect time to open one so they can complete the Quest and earn prizes. Get started online now.

Each activity is more than just a task—it lets kids practice real-world money skills like planning, saving, and responsibility. Parents (or guardians) and kids work together to complete these, earning badge stickers:
Make a $5+ deposit (or several deposits totaling $5).
Complete an activity sheet
Bring a friend.
Join a Tongass FCU Youth Month event.

Once all boxes on the Quest Tracker are filled, your child earns the Youth Month T-shirt. Along the way, they’ll see that saving is fun, motivating, and leads to real rewards.
Bonus: Every visit in October comes with candy, stickers, and surprises.
Other ways to win

Encourage your child (under 17) to show what they’re saving for with a creative build—using Minecraft, LEGO, blocks, craft supplies or anything they want!
Prize: Winner receives up to a $150 dividend deposit into their Youth Account.

For younger kids (under age 10), the Coloring Contest is a fun way to start talking about savings.
Download or pick up a coloring sheet, have your child color it and draw what they’re saving for and return it to us!
Prize: Each location will randomly choose one winner for a $25 dividend deposit.

It’s never too late for kids to start saving—what matters is building the habit. Here’s why it counts at any age:
- Habits build confidence. Kids who save learn responsibility and patience, no matter when they start.
- Small amounts add up. $5/week becomes $250+ in a year—proof that even little steps make a difference.
- Opportunities grow. Savings give kids more choices later—whether that’s school, a first car, or even buying a home.
